It’s complicated but keep trying – I almost sent this back. I could not figure out how to pair it with the remote. We have Ulta Fiber (Cincinnati Bell). So the way I did it was to have this remote and the cable remote face each other laying flat on a table ( tops of the remotes facing each other) and was able to program the channels and the off and on. To do the volume, I used the actual tv remote that came with the tv and paired them the same way for the volume. Use the instructions on how to pair each thing, volume, channels and off/on. The only thing I wasn’t able to to was program favorites, I can’t quite figure that out. But at least my 84 year old Mother isn’t overwhelmed with all of the buttons the other remotes have.

FANTASTIC, with one small caveat… – I’ve purchased a number of remotes for my mother, and finally, one she can use, hooray! UNBELIEVABLE, the difference it makes in her mood and outlook, to have some autonomy and control. She is legally blind and has dementia, but even if she were totally blind, she could use it (to listen to the TV). Other remotes presented so many buttons that my mom was overwhelmed by them. This one has only six, and by their placement, it was an easy matter for her to learn their functions.

Miracle Remote – I purchased this item in desperation for my 91 YO parent who had completely lost the ability to properly use a standard Optimum remote control, which when combined with today’s “smart” television multi-functionality, made the simple act of turning a tv on and watching a program a daily dive down the rabbit hole of pop-up menu’s for services and settings, none of which she understood or had access to. And, of course, figuring out how to get back to simple functions using the same complicated remote was an even more pointless exercise in futility. None of which I could fix for her, my living an hour away. What made it even more maddening for me was the endless, repeat phone calls for help I was getting every 10 minutes.

Very Hopeful – Although the Flipper big button remote is not perfect, I really am very hopeful that this will solve the problems my husband has had while trying to use the regular DIRECTV remote. I have to credit the tech-support from Dan. I had gotten so frustrated trying to get the sound bar to work and to get the cable box and TV to both go on. The frustration really truly would have totally interfered with my being able to set this remote up. Thank goodness for good tech-support. I am really hopeful that this new big button remote will relieve a lot of stress for my husband and subsequently for me. Thank you

Simplifiers remote for older people. – This remote has helped out a lot when it comes to dealing with my elderly mom. She always got confused using two remote. I would recommend this for anybody who is struggling with an older person who does not understand technology. I would have gave five stars but the reason I didn’t is because it’s not a quick acting remote. But the customer support was fantastic.
