This remote works very well – If you have trouble with the slide function of the fancy Apple remote this does the trick. The Apple remote is also too small for large hands to handle easily. The Function 101 remote is a good size and does everything you need.

    2. K. S (verified owner)

No real directions included – Did not like the lack of directions with the product, but it was fairly intuitive regarding use. Much easier than the Apple remote that came with the Apple TV box

    3. K. S (verified owner)

If your Apple touch pad remote is making you nuts, then this remote is for you. – If you hate your Apple TV remote because it is too sensitive, you will love this remote. It’s easy to use and you can control the TV and Apple TV box with ease. I have had mine for about a month and am very glad I purchased it.

    4. B. M (verified owner)

Great replacement for a Gen1 trackpad remote – Great replacement for the older Gen1 remote that works like a trackpad and has no Mute button for the TV. The arrow key navigation is a welcome upgrade and I do not need to keep the TV remote nearby to mute the TV during commercials.

    5. N. I (verified owner)

Love it! – This remote is exactly what I was looking for. Recently switched from Dish to FUBO (via AppleTV), and couldn’t handle using the Apple remote for everything – and still needed a separate remote for volume (soundbar through receiver). Enter the Function101. I was afraid it wouldn’t pair with my old Onkyo receiver, but it did! Full disclosure: I got impatient in the setup, and emailed customer support. I got an immediate response, including a phone number to call. Mike (one of the founders) was super helpful and got us up and running in no time. Just took a few extra clicks to get to my dusty old Onkyo.

No instructions? – Ordered this Function remote for an Apple TV. and ordered a Channel Master (CM) remote at the same time. This review includes a comparison of the two remotes with a TV and AppleTV. The Function remote came in a plastic bag with batteries making the remote ready to use. CM’s remote came in a sealed box with batteries, and a small instruction booklet, making it ready to use. The two remotes look very similar, with a couple of buttons being reversed or renamed, and CM’s has an additional “Home” button that Function does not. Both remotes are black with a rubbery top and plastic sides and back. The Function’s plastic feels smooth and a bit slippery. CM’s plastic has more of a rougher finish which gives it a bit of a grip. Function’s buttons are labeled in white with the print being slightly faded, compared to CM’s brighter white labels. Function’s button feedback is a tiny bit mushier than CM’s. The Function remote has its name in white across the bottom making it very visible. CM’s name is in black making it barely noticeable. The Function remote came with no instructions. CM came with a short instruction booklet for programming a TV and soundbar but doesn’t adequately go over Apple TV’s remote functions. Both were fairly easy to “set up/pair” with a TV and Apple TV box using the booklet that CM provided. But had to use Amazon Q&A to get answers on how to use the remote for certain AppleTV functions. In the end I personally think the CM remote is the clear winner. It feels better in my hand, the brighter white print on the buttons is easier to see, button feedback has more of a “click” to it, the additional Home button is useful, an enclosed instruction booklet is helpful, and better packaging/presentation, just to name a few reasons. Function’s price is the same and yet it is missing instructions, better packaging, and in my opinion it’s not as easy to use. However it is a decent remote and I would recommend it. Disclaimer: I have only had these for a day so I can’t attest to how long they will last.

Better than the apple remote – A lot easier to use than the Apple remote.

    8. T. Z (verified owner)

One remote to rule them all – When my Apple TV remote stopped working, I was left with the remote app (iPad) and then that stopped working. Since I was already frustrated with having separate remotes for both the TV and the Apple TV, I went searching and found this. What a piece of cake it was to setup after reading the instructions and I am more than happy. It was also nice to hear from others on the support they offer so if you’re like me and are tired of having to deal with too much hardware, make the switch.
