A versatile option for an unconventional application. – I built a sweet little 8′ x 12′ shed in my back yard. I mocked up/secured an angled wood mounting block to to the header of my double doors to create the desired pitch for my application. I then mounted the drop bracket to this block and rigged up a chain/pulley rig to the ceiling that allows me to easily pull the 40″ flat screen up to a latch on the ceiling when not in use. I also purchased a cotton (elastic bound) dust cover for it the TV, when stored up to ceiling. When the TV is dropped down and in use, the swivel and modest tilt features allow for better viewing and allows me to simply move it to the side to enter/exit the shed like a saloon door. There is also a slot in the down pipe near the hinge of the bracket that allowed me to fish the cords through for a clean look. The only modification that I made to the bracket itself was the addition of a bolt on the lower part of the mast to keep it from sliding up during the storage process (Because the bracket wasn’t designed for my particular application). The intent was to simply pacify my wife by building a back yard shed to house our stinky yard equipment/products but I couldn’t help myself. I extended the roof line of the shed and added (dimmer/dusk/dawn/LED) recessed lighting under the eves, added a functional window with a flower box and poured a 15′ x 15′ patio in front of shed with a recessed fire pit in the center. I’m currently in the process of building a small deck at the opposite end of the patio to hold my hot tub. It all started with my idea to mount a drop down TV in a stupid shed but it turned out to be quite the entertainment area. Not only is my wife pleased (Not an easy task by the way), I am now the envy of ladies in my neighborhood that love the pretty (sage green & white trimmed) shed. Their husbands think I’m a Rockstar and are inspired to create their own backyard oasis. Just buy the damn bracket, think outside the box and see what happens.
