Rocky start – This tv is incredible. It’s so enjoyable to rewatch favorite movies and see new detail, brightness and clarity it offers. I game with it as well and have been blown away with the game mode clarity as well. A few important things:

Stunning picture quality. Used with my Apple TV box. – I’ve had mine for more than a week now. Out of the box, I notice that the picture setting was VERY “constras-ty”. The black colors were very black, obscuring some of the detail in black clothing and hair, and making nighttime scenes a bit shadowy in some spots. I had to go in and make a few display adjustments so that the picture appears more life-like and not so eye-popping (decrease contrast), thus now I can see the hair strands of people with dark hair. Landscape and animated views are brilliant. Even with a lot of contrast, there is not much “ghosting washout” on Caucasian skin tones on videos as I experienced trying to brighten views on my old Panasonic. The remote control symbolism takes some getting used to. It did not come with a paper instruction manual, but found in the menu electronically. I do not connect it to the internet because I use the Apple TV box for all of my streaming content, but it’s a good idea to connect TV to internet to download the latest version of the software; connecting wirelessly was simple. I did watch a simple Youtube video to set up on the stand, which was simple. The two extra USB ports are hidden underneath the module on the back (the first two are on the side); I found them after momentary panic because i need all four. Definitely worth the money and I’m pleased with my purchase.

Great hardware, bad software – The Samsung S95B lives up to the hype. It is the best quality picture I have seen on a TV: blacks are deep black, brights are bright, colors pop off the screen, audio sounds crisp and life-like. But, unfortunately, the Tizen platform is shockingly slow software. If you get this TV be prepared to be constantly annoyed by the sluggish interface that takes entire seconds to load new screens and move between options. It constantly gets stuck “thinking” and there is a surprising amount of ads throughout the interface. Samsung needs to realize that consumers truly loathe having ads inside of their $2,000+ TV and to seriously focus on improving the speed and UX of Tizen.
