A nice simple upgrade. – I had a few external harddrives that use micro B to USB 3. I used this cable instead, and I was not expecting to see a performance boost. I guess the bottle neck was the usb 3 port speed.

Inconsistent sizes/form – The good part is that the cord works. The bad part is that the length and orientation of the ends are not consistent. I ordered 2 of the cables and the difference in length is about 1 cm. That is not a big deal, but the orientation of the ends can be different on each end. Since the cord is very stiff, for the cable that has one end at a 90 degree difference than the other, when trying to attach a light weight peripheral, such as a memory card reader, the card reader will not be flat on the table. The attached photo shows both the length difference and the cable that has one end 90 degrees from the other end.

Handy size, easy to use, great value. – I can’t actually rate on durability yet but otherwise it’s a 5. I use this for a small backup 2TB USB 3 external HD on a MacBook Air. It backs up via the USB C port on the laptop and it’s extremely fast. The size of the tiny HD (Toshiba) and this cable makes for a nice fit in a small pouch and are just made for mobility and utility – the gear can actually fit in a pocket. The HD came with a type 4 USB 3 cable and a huge/dongle was necessary – not any more.
