Bye Bye Cable – I love this one. We have gotten rid of our cable, and it has been great.

Antenna is great but the instructions are the worst – You better have internet access to learn how to properly install this antenna, because the written directions are some of the worst I’ve ever seen. Please hire me to translate. Even the videos are terrible. However, I am very happy to be pulling in over-the-air channels that my previous antenna couldn’t. As other reviews mentioned, the mount has extra parts. The coax cord from the base to the TV is only about 3’ long. I used a longer coax cord from the antenna to the base, but two very long cords connected by a splitter did not work. I think too long of a cable run may not work, so put the antenna as close to the tv as you can.

Pretty Good but the motor function is a…. – Pulled in all the channels I needed though this unit based on mileage claim is way overkill for me. But the motor feature to move the antenna is worthless if you don’t have line of sight or view of the antenna. Mine is in the attic and when i try to tune something in, and then if I loose another channel, its not a simple press the button and it will come in, because i have no idea which way it is pointing. I stopped using that feature and just tuned it in based on pointing it where I think it is best.

Good so far – Easy to install and set up. Picture quality is excellent so far. Materials are fairly lightweight; hoping it will survive through a northern winter.

Out of the box, it’s very good – Assembly and installation go well, assuming you are used to garbled language in instructions. The coaxial cable attachment comes with a boot to cover the junction with the antenna base that you will never be able to properly place or seal, without a heat gun. Especially on a roof. For me, I have the choice of taking the antenna down, or taking a heat gun up. I will choose the latter, because I will remove the coax from the box which is white, (saving that for in the house), and run black coax on the exterior. I need a heat gun anyway, for other projects. But for you, maybe the cable being white and only 40 ft is not an issue and you have no other need for a heat gun. Assemble the antenna in the comfortable indoors, then attach the included coaxial cable to the motor platform, do not over-tighten. Then you need to slide the black boot on the cable all the way up to the motor platform/base. Once all the way up, you are to notice that little metal ring down at the bottom of the boot and that it has a tiny arch in it. You take ordinary pliers and squish that arch to provide a better seal. In the make-believe world where you can push the boot up to the motor platform without first adding heat. Nearly impossible. But indoors, maybe you have a blow dryer, or can borrow one from a neighbor. Then you can gently soften the plastic boot and slide it up, past the metal connector then let it cool. And shrink. That’s how you install a boot and you won’t get any of that from the instructions.

Good Signal Strength w/ Fidgety Rotor – I’ve played with this type of antenna before so I knew the rotor had its limitations. I wouldn’t count in using it for more than an initial setting as you cannot control exact locations. I built a microprocessor based compass to tell me which direction it’s putting on a web page so that I can put it in repeat positions since you cannot tell which way it’s pointing without looking at it. Another approach is using small increments of rotation until you get the best signal strength but that can be difficult depending on your digital tuner’s capabilities. Once pointed it has better signal than the previous one I had (similar type sold by many). I’ve settled on one direction after experimenting so the rotor at least saved me multiple trips to the roof.
