Every switch owner should have this – I was dubious about buying such an inexpensive product for my Nintendo Switch. This was simply the easiest upgrade I’ve done in some time. I was considering buying the new OEM Nintendo dock for the Switch (which includes an Ethernet port). This was a much less expensive option, and using it is simple as well.

Supports high speed ethernet! – This adapter supports high speed ethernet quite well. I have gigabit internet at home, get about 900 Mbps using this adapter, much better than Ethernet ports on my smart TV and even my work laptops! The TV only gets 300 Mbps using its Ethernet port, but 900 with this adapter. Great value.

Hope it last. – Faster than the amazon basics. I am on the ATT 300mbps plan and got 320mbps with this device vs 170mbps I got on the amazon basic when plugged to the USB2.0 port. Switched it to USB3.1 and got over 80mbps more compared to the amazon basic at 260mbps.

Worked to help modem setup. – Needed to set-up modem, without cat5 port on my laptop.

Works on Mac – I plugged it in. Mac has detected it as AX88179A. On Asix.com site, the driver for AX88179A for Mac is not available, I downloaded AX88179 version. The speed doesn’t go above 300Mbps, which makes this trinket useless for me since I can just use wifi.

Works “out of the box” with Windows 10 Pro – As there is a little sticker on the adapter telling you where to download the driver, I did just that on installation. My HP Spectre laptop did not care for it, to put it mildly. So, I uninstalled the device in Device Manager, plugged it back in where it was once again recognized as a new device, and plugged my ethernet cable into it. It worked perfectly. So, don’t install the driver right off the bat like I did. It should work as soon as it’s plugged in and recognized, at least in my laptop.
