Antenna Testing and Results – Like many people, I’ve been doing some reading about ditching cable and being able to solely subsist on over the air channels and get rid of the cable bill. I watch very little TV – mostly I’m into documentaries and what little TV I do watch is news. Obviously, turning off cable and going it alone with just an antenna I realize I’d lose all the cable TV news channels. But I wanted to at least do some testing to see what I’d be able to pull in.

– I decided to give this antenna a try in the hopes of receiving about 4 or 5 channels after deciding to finally cut my cable. However, after a number of different configurations in my living room I could never end up receiving more than 2 channels, one of which was an analog mess.

– This is awesome! I purchased the Winegard FL5500A. It was so easy to install. Connected to TV, plugged in amplifier, placed the antennae in the window and had TV look for channels. I live in Edmonton and it found 7 channels when I placed it high on wall by window. Didn’t like where it was so I moved it to a different window where 6 channels were found ( I lost the french station). CFRN in 1080i, CBC in 720i, Global 1080i, YesTV 1080i, City TV 1080i and Omni in 1080i. They all have crystal clear picture and sound. Free channels and a membership with Amazon Prime is all the TV I need. Saves me $50+ in cable fees.
