Attention blue-screeners! – I was just about ready to begrudgingly reach out to tech with the same issue a lot of you were having. I unplugged and plugged in, reset, powered on and off and swapped DVD players (own two in the home) and still blue screen WITH sound. Which was especially frustrating because it let me know the connector was working but that it had to be user error. After SLOWLY reading the manual, it suggested to swap out RCA cords. We have a drawer full of wires (as a lot of us do). I found a newer RCA set as I was using the one that originally came with my 15 year old DVD player. Once doing that the picture and sound came in crystal clear! I’m not sure if it’ll work for everyone, but find a RCA cord you don’t have to dust off and see if that helps. I’ve now watched a movie in HD and in worked great. Haven’t used it long enough to 5 star it but so far so good.

Good for the price – You get what you pay for. For 15 bucks this thing does what it says. If you use it for video games, it won’t add a bunch of lag. The audio is a little noisy and the picture is okay. If it weren’t for the price, I wouldn’t rate it highly because of the audio noise. But you can’t complain much with the cheapest option. If you’re a dork on a budget, you could probably just add some spare cheap components on the inside to kill the noise. This thing was a great $15 TEMPORARY solution for me. 4 stars!

Best picture yet for my LD disc player – I’ve tried every allowable permutation to get a decent picture on my LD player (there aren’t many options to choose from), all with marginal results. So I thought I’d give this try, fully expecting it to work poorly, if at all. I mean, RCA to HDMI? Well, I don’t want to get anybody’s hopes up, but the picture was the best one yet. It isn’t hi-def quality, don’t expect that, but we’re working with RCA cables – there’s only 3 of them, and two of ’em are for sound. This was much better than component or S-video. I’m guessing most who are reading this already have an LD player, so will be slow to judge me for having one at all. I don’t know why this wouldn’t work with an early generation DVD player too, but you can BUY an HDMI player for $5 nowadays at Goodwill so you’d probably have a sentimental attachment to your older technology that explains your wish to spend more to get less. I added the LD player to my video stable a few years back because – somehow – I’d never even heard of the technology. Big, heavy platters that look like silver LPs and weigh 5x as much – very shiny. It’s nice to give them a fighting chance against the 4K player.

Works Well – Easy set up and it works. Please know that your picture will not be quite as good on a UHD tv set as it was on the older 1080p sets. But it works very well and the picture is not bad…much better than I had expected.

Attention Blue Screeners (Part II) – As a previous customer mentioned, if you are getting the blue screen with sound but no video try another “newer” rca male to male cord. But, I’ll also say this – try plugging the usb male end into the usb port on the tv itself instead of into a power source adapter then into wall socket. I had the hdmi plugged into tv but usb plugged into wall outlet and I got the blue screen high buzzing sound plus the sound of the dvd/vhs movie. But without changing the rca cord and plugging usb into tv walla magic it worked. As previous customer mentioned, I haven’t been using it long enough to give it 5 star also.

Not a gimmick. This product really works! – I was skeptical when I first purchased this product. I have some old electronics that still operate off of RCA’s. When I used this product to connect my old electronics to my new HDMI electronics, the quality was supreme. A great idea! A great product!

It works – I needed to convert the A/V outputs from an old VCR and PS2 to HDMI, and this little box did the trick. Wasn’t sure how well it well it upscale these devices to 1080p but the results were completely acceptable. Both devices displayed and sounded great on my TV. Granted this is a fairly simple application so I can’t speak for more demanding ones. But overall I am completely satisfied with this unit.

Served the purpose – It works well connecting my AV output to HDMI input on my TV. However, it seems to still draw some energy even when not in use. Both the converter and the USB charger feel a little warm to the touch even when the TV and the AV devices are not turned on.
